China Mobile 10 years of growth, but income growth lags behind the data traffic growth, indicating that China Mobile should develop more commercial services. In 10 years, China Mobile's data traffic increased by 112.3%, while its revenue only increased by 49.4%. This trend forces China Mobile to optimize its mobile network to cope with the heavy traffic burden.
China Mobile will continue to invest in its network in 11 years, planning a capital expenditure increase of RMB1324 billion to focus on optimizing 2G/3G networks and building WLAN wireless networks, which can alleviate the pressure on mobile phone networks and expand coverage rates, thereby improving service quality.
China Telecom: Rapid development and balanced fixed-line and mobile services
In 10 years, China Telecom's revenue grew by five percent to RMB2198 billion; net profit was RMB157 billion, an increase of fifteen percent over last year. China Telecom's mobile business experienced significant growth as CDMA/EVDO users increased by nearly sixty percent.
By providing integrated fixed-line and mobile services, China Telecom plans future investments focused on fixed broadband for maintaining its strong position in fixed-line markets.
In addition to solidifying their positions in their respective markets through strategic investments aimed at enhancing customer experiences or expanding service offerings into new segments (such as value-added services), each operator is also working towards filling gaps in their coverage areas—a move that could potentially lead toward a more competitive market landscape benefiting consumers directly.
The Chinese telecommunications industry continues evolving amidst intense competition from multiple players operating within this highly regulated environment.
As such challenges persist across various aspects of these businesses—be it securing licenses for expansion into new sectors like wireline operations or competing against domestic rivals who are rapidly advancing their own technologies—these operators must adapt continuously if they wish not only maintain current market share but also seize opportunities arising from emerging trends within this ever-evolving landscape.
